What is this store about?
Synthrilla is a collaborative team of dedicated musicians and sound designers from around the globe, united by our passion for recreating the legendary sounds of Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. Led by founder Daniel Jösch from Southern Germany, alongside co-founder Andy Hoang (USA), Antonio Santiago (Spain), and Tape Vault (Poland), we meticulously analyze and recreate every synth patch, preset, and instrumental detail from the iconic album. After years of ear-training, transcribing, and sound design work, we’re sharing our studio-grade VST presets, MIDI files, and sheet music transcriptions with musicians and producers worldwide. Every product is crafted with precision, historical accuracy, and a commitment to authenticity, making professional-quality Thriller sounds accessible to bedroom producers and professional studios alike.

This year the fruits of years of dedication and the specific insights I had the privilege to uncover about the song Thriller this year have inspired me to make my presets available to the public. For each preset, I’ve created over 100 variations, constantly refining my sound design techniques and exploring new ways to achieve the most authentic reproduction possible. What do I need for playing the sounds of a preset?
To use our presets, you’ll need software emulations from the manufacturers we specify for each product. These work either as plugins within your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) like Cubase, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, or FL Studio, or as standalone applications. We offer presets for various platforms including Arturia synths from the V Collection, Arturia Analog Lab Pro (where you can simply import soundbanks without needing individual synthesizer emulations), Roland Cloud, TAL, Acustica Audio, and Cherry Audio. Each product description clearly indicates which emulation is required, so you’ll know exactly what you need before purchasing.
How can I use a MIDI file?
To use MIDI files, you’ll need an application or DAW that can play or import MIDI file formats and assign a virtual instrument to play the notes contained in the MIDI data.

Some of the presets are based on information that have been officially explained or are sample based by the work of other people. I don’t want to make money from this if the work includes elements of others’ work.
